Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Oxford Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Connelley will officiate. Oxford Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson was born Nov. 2, 1941, in Wellington, to Donald and Dorothea Thompson. As a boy, he was involved in Scouts, 4-H and FFA. He attended Oxford schools and graduated from Udall High School in 1961. He also attended autobody school.
Thompson served in the Kansas National Guard and the Army Reserves. He worked for the City of Winfield in utilities and at Strother Field before moving to Colorado to be involved in construction in the late 1970s.
A son, James Robert Thompson, died in 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Thompson, Northglenn; his children, Wesley, Robert, Janell and Janene; his mother, Dorothea Thompson, and a sister, Connie Jo Morris, both of Oxford; and 10 grandchildren.
