Son: Charles Gavan Bunney born 26 April 1915 at Frankston died 7 April 1998. Went by the name Millard after changing his name by deed pole. Later married Iris Elwin Madder in 1942. Served in the 2ND AIF VX41822.

Daughter: Hettie Joan Bunney born 20 July 1920. At 16 years of age was an apprentice dressmaker in Melbourne. Also believed to have changed her name by deed poll. Listed as Next of Kin on the Military Files of her brother Charles Gavan Millard. Name given is Hetty Joan Millard.

Originally an unmarked grave. The plaque on this grave was placed due to the dedication of WO1 Darryl Kelly, Regimental Sergeant Major 7th Field Regiment Royal Australian Artillery, Later Major Darryl Kelly who made it his mission to ensure Charles was honoured as a valued veteran of his nation. Major Kelly is the author of the book Just Soldiers: The Story of Ordinary Australians Doing Extraordinary Things in which he details the military history of Charles Bunney.

Burial was paid for in 1938 by the Dunolly branch of the R.S.S.I.L.A the forerunner to the RSL.
