During Jerry's young years, the family relocated to Michigan, but returned to Evansville when Jerry was in fifth grade. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School, then Memorial High School where he met the love of his life, MaryAnn Wolf. The two graduated from Memorial in 1948. Jerry went on to serve in the Army during the Korean War. Jerry and MaryAnn were married on April 24, 1954. He spent his career at Burroughs Corporation in Evansville.
Jerry knew very few strangers. Those who knew him well will remember him for his vibrant stories (most of which were true), his love for family, and his knack for pulling a trick or prank. Jerry was a fixer. If something was broken, usually because he broke it, he was always looking for a clever way to fix it—and he usually made it better. He loved to build birdhouses, shoot rockets, fly kites, and tinker in the garage. His family will enjoy great memories of vacations on the beach, Memorial Day Weekends on Kentucky Lake, and Sundays on the patio.
Jerry was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved and will be missed by many who called him brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 65 years, MaryAnn (Wolf); sisters MaryAnn Derrick, Sandy (Mick) Baylor, Sharon (Alan) Braun; daughters Carol (Roger) Titzer, Cathy (Wayne) Basham, and son David (Jean) Evans; grandchildren Eric Titzer, Alex Titzer, Jenny (Aaron) Cash, Mike (Brittney) Evans, Danny (Ali) Evans; great-grandchildren Sydney Cash, Taylor Cash, Peyton Cash, Amelia Burrough, Oaklyn Evans, and Austyn Evans; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Jerry was greeted in heaven by his mother, father, and brother, Donald "Donnie".
