Christopher M. Schmidt November 29, 2019 Christopher Michael Schmidt, 25, went to his peace in Philadephia, PA on November 29, 2019.
Born December 19, 1993 in Syracuse, he lived in Pompey, graduated from Fabius-Pompey High School in 2012 and received his AAS from Onondaga Community College in 2018.
He was proud to be the House Manager for Independence Recovery in Ephrata, PA, where he found his purpose in helping others. Chris received his amateur radio license at the age of 10 and his first degree black belt in 2007. He was a music buff with eclectic taste, preferring vinyl to digital, and an avid reader with wide-ranging taste from manga to psychology. A video gamer known to his friends as the King of Tetris, he was incredibly intelligent with a quick wit. He was kind, compassionate, caring, genuine and so very loved.
He is survived by his parents, Donald E. and Susan A. Schmidt of Pompey; sister, Sara A. Schmidt of Long Island City, NY; grandparents, Beverly J. Schmidt of Camillus; aunts and uncles, Ellen and James Muench of Jordan, Karen and Bradley Lettsome of Royal Palm Beach FL, and Carol Muench of East Syracuse; and cousins, Eric Muench, Kristin Muench, John Muench, Matthew Lettsome and Andrew Lettsome. Calling hours will be 1:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius. There will be a Memorial Service immediately following the calling hours at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Independence Recovery to create a scholarship fund to honor Chris. It was there that he found his calling. He helped so many and a part of him will live on in the people that he touched. Independence Recovery gave him support, purpose, friendship, and love. They gave us our son back, for which we will always be grateful. Independence Recovery, 670 East Main St., Ephrata, PA 17522. For guest book, please visit: www.SCHEPPFAMILY.com
