JOYCE H POOLE
Our beloved Joyce H. Poole, 104, of Lansdale, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, in Somerset, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of the late Cyril E. Poole, who died in 1981.
Born April 11, 1915 in Midland, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Grace (Posey) Hoffsommer.
Joyce lived most of her childhood in Japan, where her father was superintendent of the American School (ASIJ) in Tokyo. A graduate of Allentown State Hospital School of Nursing, she worked as a registered nurse and helped establish the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale. She was a longtime, dedicated member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Lansdale, was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed painting.
Survivors include her children, Jacqueline Martin of Toledo, Ohio; Grace Fread of Effingham, Illinois; June Poole of Norristown; Rosemary Kehrer of Indian Lake, Pennsylvania; and Frank Poole of Lansdale; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister
Relatives and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2019, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.
