Joel Dean Holmes, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4th, at the age of 70 at Self Regional in Greenwood.
He was Born in Arcadia, SC on March 17th, 1949 and lived most of his life in the Spartanburg area.
Joel was the son of the late Thelma and Walter Holmes of Spartanburg, SC.
Joel was the first Dorman Cavalier in 1967 and always kept a special place in his heart for Arcadia and the Spartanburg community. He then went on to Graduate from Carson Newman college.
Joel was an avid Golfer and had recently set a new senior record of 67 at Hilton Head Lakes. Joel never met a stranger and always made friends where he went.
He was a member of Arcadia First Baptist church and Arcadia Masonic lodge.
He is survived by his sons: Joel Holmes of Simpsonville, SC and Jeff (Shauna) Holmes of Cleveland, SC; grandchildren: Jackson Holmes and Hudson Holmes of Cleveland, SC; sisters: Kristie (Charles) Tennent of Greenville, SC and Treva (Rob) Webb of Boiling Springs, SC and his aunt, Peggy Cusack of Waldorf, MD
The family will hold a memorial service on December 23rd at Arcadia Masonic Lodge between 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.at 711 W. Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC.
