Patrick Wayne Patterson, age 26, of Sioux City, Iowa (formerly of Battle Creek, Iowa) passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019, as a result of an automobile accident.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2019, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Randy D. Cormeny will officiate. Committal will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2019, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Battle Creek, Iowa. The Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek & Ida Grove, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Patrick Wayne Patterson was born on January 15, 1993, in Nashville, TN. He grew up seven miles south of Battle Creek, Iowa, on the family farm with his five siblings.

Throughout elementary, junior high and high school, Patrick participated in wrestling, track, football, basketball and baseball. He was a 4-H member with the Garfield All Stars and during his high school days, Patrick was a drummer in the band. Patrick graduated from OABCIG (Odebolt-Arthur- Battle Creek- Ida Grove) High School with the class of 2011.

During his high school career, Patrick worked on his cousin, Bryce Riessen’s farm. After graduating, Patrick went on to further his education in Sioux City, Iowa at Western Iowa Tech enrolling in their carpentry program. While attending college he worked full time at Menard’s. Soon after that he began working for C.W. Suter, where he ended up loving his job and had found his career. In 2019, Patrick obtained his apprenticeship certificate in HVAC.

Patrick had a contagious laugh and a smile that could light up a room. His friendly disposition helped him easily make new friends at his part-time jobs at the Half Moon and the Paxton. Patrick enjoyed hanging out with friends and easily made friends with everyone everywhere he went. He was surrounded with love and loved to spoil his two nieces and three nephews.

He is survived by his parents, LaRayne (Jerry) Miller of Danbury, IA and Jeff Patterson of TN; siblings, Allan (Diana) Patterson and family of TX, Kayla (Ross) Sheehan and family of NE, Shelbie Merchant and family of IA; Shannon (Bob) Miller and family of SD, Ashtyon Miller and Austyn Miller of IA; numerous extended family and friends.

Patrick was preceded in death by his grandparents, AlWayne and Betty Riessen; and nephew Rhyder Patterson.
