Tpr. GLEN E WOODS - NYSP - TROOP C - 24 MARCH 2015 - from a heart attack following training.

Tpr. Glen E Woods served with the NYSP from 2000 to 24 March 2015.

NYS Trooper Glen Edward Woods of Endicott, NY, entered heavenly peace on the morning of Tuesday, March 24, 2015, due to natural causes. Glen was 45 years young. The roles, talents, and duties Glen performed throughout his life are numerous: loving husband, dedicated father, loyal NYS Trooper, meticulous carpenter, and expert pumpkin carver (just to name a few). Every task, mission, or life event Glen chose, he led with a full heart, always striving for efficiency, fine detail, and perfection. Glen was born on February 19, 1970 to his surviving parents, David and Joyce Woods (Porter) of Endicott, NY. His brother, Stephen Woods of Vienna VA, and sister, Debra Cramer of Endicott, also survive him. Glen graduated from Union Endicott High School with the class of 1988. He then pursued his career of criminal justice at Broome Community College, earning degrees in both Engineering Science and Criminal Justice. He continued his education at the Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated with high honors, in 1995. He proudly served as an Endwell Trooper with the New York State Police. In addition to his road patrol duties, he was a Fire Arms Instructor (which he enjoyed immensely) and was recently training with the Collision Reconstruction Unit. Glen earned the respect of honorable men and the respect of the community that he so faithfully served with skill and diligence. Glen was the essence of the classic "Rough Rider." He was a true professional with a clear compassionate side. His brothers in the New York State Police family will sorely miss him. Glen's example and the echoes of his service will surely guide their actions. Glen was a family man, and will always be greatly loved, admired and respected by his surviving wife, Kelly Woods (Coney) and surviving children, Brenna Woods, and Joshua Woods. This family, along with Glen's nieces, nephews, and clan of in-laws, hope to honor his legacy by emulating his character, through their words and deeds, forever upholding Glen's golden standard. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday, March 31st at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Sunday, March 29th from 1-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the "Glen Woods Family Scholarship Fund." A donation can be made by mail or submitted directly at the bank, NBT Bank of Vestal, C/O Glen Woods Family, 3121 Vestal Parkway East, P.O. Box 186, Vestal, New York 13850. Your love and support is greatly appreciated.
