His tenure at Grace Lutheran began as a Gettysburg Lutheran Theological Seminary graduate in 1949. What began as a small mission church grew in to a much larger congregation that expanded through several building programs during his years of service.
In retirement, he worked with several parishes as an interim pastor. He faithfully met the needs of people in Dillsburg and Franklintown.
Arthur was born in Myerstown, MD and was the son of the late Rev. Dr. Clarence A. and C. Maude (Baker) Neal. He grew up in Chambersburg, PA and was nurtured in the faith by his loving parents.
Pastor Neal was the widower of Ellen Connor Neal and is survived by his daughter Cynthia E. Kramer and husband Howard A. of Lancaster and a sister Anna L. Neal, also of Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Rd., Camp Hill, PA with the Rev. L. George Detweiler officiating. A visitation with the family and light luncheon will be held at the church immediately following committal services at Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Rev. C. Arthur and Ellen M. Neal Memorial Fund, c/o Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
