Lola Merle Turner, a resident of Okmulgee went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the age of 91 surrounded by her family. Lola was born May 28, 1928 in Henryetta to the late Louie Belden and Ada (Tidwell) Belden. She married Robert J. Turner on May 28, 1946. The two spent over fifty-five years together until Roberts passing in 2001. Lola enjoyed reading, camping, and loved going trout fishing. She received a Masters in Education from Northeastern State University. She taught at Beggs Public Schools for two years and Okmulgee Public Schools for twenty-eight years. Lola was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, Okmulgee County Retired Teachers, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Nuyaka Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, both parents, brother Bobby Ray Belden, and granddaughter Tanee Louise Turner.
Those left to cherish all the wonderful memories of Lola is her son Robert L. Turner and wife Brenda, grandchildren; Sheila Canaday and husband Gary, Robert W. Turner and wife Rhonda, and Debra Ann Collins, great-grandchildren; Wes Turner and wife Crystal, Dale Tuner and wife Verna, Dalton Turner, Kyle Grimmett, Ashleigh Callahan and husband Paton, Allie Turner and husband Tyler, Heather Fisher, April Fisher, Kayla Pembrook and husband Kenny, and Kristin Collins, and eighteen great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Nuyaka Baptist Church with Reverend Clinton Sinclair officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Turner, Gary Canaday, Kyle Grimmett, Dalton Turner, Wes Turner, and Dale Turner. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Friends may visit the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Wednesday, December 4, 2019, from 12:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be present from 7:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M..
