Chester Blanton, age 89, of Paintsville died Thursday July 1, 2021 at the Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, KY. He was born September 24, 1931 in Oil Springs to the late Manford and Lona Williams Blanton. Chester proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans. On December 14, 1957 in Paintsville he married Edna Blanton who preceded him in death on April 19, 2012. Additionally preceding him in death are two sons: Paul Melvin Blanton, Danny Leon Blanton, twelve half brothers, five half sisters, three sisters, and one brother. Survivors include three sons: Tony Blanton, Terry (Beckie) Blanton, Casey (Dawn) Blanton; two daughters: Nadine Nelson, Debbie Blanton; one brother: James (Betty) Blanton; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M., on Sunday from 12 Noon until 8 P.M., and on Monday from 9 A.M. until time of services. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Monday July 5, 2021 in the chapel of the Preston Funeral Home with Steve Slone and Jamie Slone officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Salyersville Chapter 15 D.A.V. Interment to follow in the Manford Blanton Cemetery at Oil Springs.
