Burley - Katy Mae Horn, 96 year old Burley resident died Saturday, Aug 22, 1992, at her home. She was born June 4, 1896 at Moorland, the daughter of James and Rose Hannah Smith England. She moved with her family to Union,
Oregon where she attended schools. The family moved to Burley in 1912. She married Joseph Horn on Jan 21, 1914, at the LDS Temple. Following their marriage they resided in Oregon; Logan, Utah; and Burley prior to moving to the Hopewell District where they farmed from 1930 to 1970. Upon retirement they moved to Twin Falls. Mr. Horn Preceded her in death on January 1, 1987.
She was a member of the LDS church and had served as a teacher in the Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society. She and her husband served a two year stake mission to the Regional Library in Burley.
Survivors include four daughters: Zylpha Mae Wade of Gooding, Glayds (sic)
England Olson Bailey and Eva Lapree Horn Roberts, both of Burley; and DelvaJean Thompson Honderich of Twin Falls; twenty gradnchildren; sixty-nine great grandchildren; and forty-five great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and fourteen
brothers and sisters.
A funeral was held 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 25, 1992, at the Joseph Payne Memorial Chapel, 211 West Main St. in Burley. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetary. The family suggest memorials be given to the The LDS Church Missionary Fund or to the Primary Childrens Medical Center.
