Mr. Ray Matthew Hall entered into the gates of Heaven on October 25, 2019 while surrounded by his loving family at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hall was born May 10, 1931 in Caldwell County to the late Ivey David and Coleen Cline Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Hall; sister, Jeanette St. John along with two grandchildren, Shane and Benjamin Hall.

Ray was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed through Crestline and Brandon Furniture as a supervisor in the furniture industry while being a dedicated member of Union Grove Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon, Fellowship Hall Committee, Building Committee, and a music director for over twenty-five years.

Ray enjoyed camping and fishing with his friends. He was a big Tarheels and Atlanta Braves fan but most of all he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play many sports.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Mary “Sue” Gilbert Hall; his sons, David R Hall and wife Deborah of Lenoir, Stephen R Hall and wife Suzanne of Lenoir; brother, Terry Hall and wife Mildred of Lenoir; sister, Jane Beane and Husband Marshall of Lenoir.

Also left to cherish are three grandchildren, Dara Rhea Childers and husband Travis of Hildebran, Dona E. Rudicil and husband William of Rutherford College, and Jacob Christian Hall of Hickory; and four great grandchildren.

A funeral service to honor Mr. Hall will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Union Grove Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Sam Craven and Rev. Lynn Parsons officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Union Grove Baptist Church. Military Honors will be provided by the US Army National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Hall, Travis Childers, William Rudicil, Keith St. John, Allen Hall and Daryl Triplett.
