Michael LeRoy Huber of Sachse, TX, passed away peacefully at the age off 66 surrounded by his wife & family on Nov. 20, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Michael was born in Concordia, KS, on Jun 21, 1953 to Lyle & Harriett (Simmons) Huber.
He was married to Christine (Sicard-Scott) at the Brown Grand Theatre in Concordia, KS, on July 7, 2001.
Michael graduated from Concordia High School, Concordia, KS in 1971. He then went on to serve 11 years in the Army as a Ground Control Approach Radar Specialist. He achieved the rank of SP6 & SSGT serving during Vietnam, Turkish-Cypriot, and Cold War Eras. He served at multiple duty locations during his military career. His last assignment was with a joint multi-National task force in Greece as a missile crewman. He was awarded multiple awards to include the National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development number 2, & Good Conduct Medal 3rd Award. He went onto KU where he graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Michael retired in 2017 after 29 years with Texas Instruments as a DMT in DMOS5 in Dallas, TX. Michael enjoyed flying his RC Racing planes where he was a member of the AMA model aviation & was FCC licensed. He volunteered as a mentor in the Dallas Best Robotics. He also loved hunting, playing cards, going to casinos, fishing with his wife & grandchildren, watching KU basketball, & a connoisseur of hot sauces!
Michael is preceded in death by his parents.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Christine of Sachse, TX; his children: Debi (Danny) Hornkohl of Palmer, KS; Linda (Chuck) Hammon of Rochester, MN; Candice (Clint) Walker of Bedford, TX; his grandchildren: Lane (Kaela) Huff, Lacey Huff, Lisa Huff, Emmerich Hornkohl & Elizabeth Hammon; great grandchildren: Keeler & Braxton; his siblings: Chris (Jim) Workman of Concordia, KS; Theresa (Mark) Gram of Clyde, KS; & Jeff (Becky) Huber of Concordia, KS.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.
