Bryan Norman, age 89, of Nixa passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019. He was born in McPherson, AR March 24, 1930 to Thomas and Sally (Wolf) Norman. Bryan was united in marriage to Gloria Lewis December 23, 1978 celebrating 40 years of marriage. Bryan was raised in a farm in rural Arkansas. Bryan served in the U. S. Navy post World War II. He went to work for Southwestern Power Administration in 1959 as a foreman over maintenance. He retired from there after thirty three years. After retiring he volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. He was so active with the charity that they hired him full time and he worked there for 10 years. Bryan and Gloria enjoyed touring the country with friends. He enjoyed playing golf with friends. He used only one club. He became known as One Club Norman. His other hobby was work any kind. He liked to stay busy. Bryan and Gloria attended Nixa Christian Church. He was very active in the church, including serving as Elder and property manager for 20 years. Bryan is survived by his wife Gloria; sons Donald Norman of Virginia Beach, VA, Bryan (Skip) Norman of KC, MO, Larry Norman, his wife Natalie of Cocoa Beach, FL, J. P. (Paul) Norman, his wife Sandra of Nixa. Robert (Bobby) Whittaker, his wife Karen of Nixa; a daughter Patricia (Pat) Grubb of Joplin; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister Avis Blackburn of Chestetron, IN. Bryan is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Virginia Crider; and a brother Thomas Norman. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, November 18, 2019 in Nixa Christian Church, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Paul Elliot officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield with full military honors.
