Sheila Sadler, 77, of Grinnell died on November 27, 2019, at UnityPoint Health Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Sheila was born on April 17, 1942, in Lynnville, the daughter of Lawrence and Frances Shaffer Thomas. She was raised in Montezuma and was a 1960 graduate of Montezuma High School. She earned an associate's degree at A.I.B. in Des Moines.

On February 21, 1971, she married Russell Sadler, at the Grinnell First Baptist Church. They lived in Grinnell. Sheila was employed with the State of Iowa for 36 years as an Income Maintenance worker, with her office located on Commercial Street in Grinnell and later as Supervisor of Child Support Recovery in Marshalltown. She retired in 1997.

Sheila enjoyed traveling with Russ while driving over the road Semi-Tractors and delivering Winnebago RV's. The couple traveled to all 50 states, with her adventures to Hawaii and Alaska, which they drove to, being among her favorites. She loved fishing and boating, especially to Lake Thunderhead in Missouri and with Nicky Boy Charters on Lake Michigan. Endless motorcycle rides were a joy, including riding to Sturgis, South Dakota. She loved the outdoors. She was an avid fan of Elvis and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include her husband, Russ of Grinnell; three children, Debra Sadler of Grinnell, Doug Sadler of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Greg (Denise) Sadler of Grinnell; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Sadler of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one brother, Jerry Thomas of Montezuma; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sons, Scott, Jason, and Steven Sadler.
