Jerry Holt
1946 - 2019
Jerry Holt was born on 23 Nov 1946 in Artesia, Eddy County, New Mexico. He was the son of Everett Ernest Holt aka "Shorty" Holt and Ruby Doris (Mann) Holt aka "Doris" Holt. Jerry was the 5th child out of 8 and was a twin.
On June 6, 1967 he married Gladys Marie Hynes. They remained married for over 50 years until her death on May 13, 2018. Gladys was from Staten Island, New York and they met while Gladys was in Artesia attending college. They had two children, Pamela Marie Holt and one living son. Pamela passed away shortly before her third birthday, on April 2, 1973 from heart failure due to severe asthma.
Jerry spent the first 50 or so years of his life mostly in or around the Artesia, New Mexico area. In his early years he worked in the oilfield but switched to driving a truck. He drove for Steer Tank lines out of Artesia in the 70s and 80s. He moved to Plainview Texas in 1987 and drove for Walmart for over 30 years until he retired.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football and spending time with his grandsons. He was a member of Saint Alice's Catholic Church.
He passed away at the age of 73 on Monday, November 25, 2019. A celebration of his life took place on 30 Nov 2019 at the Saint Alice's Catholic Church.
Jerry is survived by one living son, two grandsons and one sister.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, parents, brother Edward Ernest Holt, brother Phillip Claude Holt, brother John Raymond Holt, twin brother Jackie Holt, sister Ruby Schamel and brother Tommy Holt.
