Brian was born on February 12, 1951 in Medford, Massachusetts, son of the late Edwin and Eleanor Callahan. After earning his BA from Boston College, Brian obtained his MBA from Babson College in 1975. Brian served 3 years in the Army prior to joining the Navy in 1980. Brian’s military service spanned 12 years in various naval support functions from Hydrofoil Supply Department Head, Assistant Supply Officer in U. S. Naval Activities in the United Kingdom, served on the USS McCandless and at the U. S. Naval Station in Adak, Alaska. Brian continued his service as a civilian working for naval contractors in Northern Virginia. He was a Senior Logistics Specialist working at the Navy Yard until his retirement in 2017.
Brian was predeceased by his brother, Mark Callahan. Brian’s survivors include his brothers, Barry Callahan (Lisa) of Littleton, N.C., and Deniz Callahan (Kim) of Falls Church, VA; step-mother, Suna Callahan of Falls Church, VA; nephews Sean Callahan of Santa Fe, NM, Ryan Callahan of Albuquerque, NM, Patrick Callahan of Charlottesville, VA, Aydin Callahan and niece, Emily Callahan of Falls Church, VA and cousins throughout the country.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 5 pm – 7:30 pm at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be January 6, 2020, at 2 pm.
