Merlene loved to cook for her family and friends, shop and visit her mother. She was known to many as a kind person with a heart of gold that would do anything for anyone. Merlene was employed with Oxlite Manufacturing for over 20 years as a housekeeper and house chief. She became really close with the owners and went to work for the family as their personal housekeeper and cook after the business shut down. She was tender, kindhearted, understanding, forgiving, loving, comforting and brutally honest. She was one of the sweetest souls that you would ever meet. She loved her family and friends and especially loved visiting with her mother and daughter. She loved her dog Tilly. No matter what pain or situation she was going through, she always had a smile on her face.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sheree Bernard and spouse, Stephanie of Pensacola, FL; and mother, Rita Quebedeaux of Arnaudville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emery Quebedeaux; husband, Bernell Bernard; and fiancée, Tony Heugel.
