Danny Andrew Hughes, Jr., “Andy” to his friends, passed away in his Arden home on July 21st, 2019 at the age of 45. Andy is survived by his father, Danny Andrew Hughes, his brother, Noah Hughes, and his wife of 20 years, Shannon Montgomery. Andy’s mother, Virginia “Jenny” Wright passed in 2013. Andy was exceptionally talented and intelligent: a musician, tinker, bard, druid, mentor, gamer, friend. He is best remembered for his conversations, uniquely odd sense of humor, as well as his generosity towards friends, and strong sense of justice. He was a worshipper of Bastet. Andy epitomized what it means to “be Asheville” and many remember him from Vincent’s Ear, the band Veterans of Future Wars (VFW), and his work at Moog Music. He impacted and inspired many and his absence leaves a hole in our hearts. May his memory be kept alive and well.
