Visitation will begin today, 12 noon-8 p.m. in the Jesse E. Cooley Funeral Chapel. Services are being held Saturday, 1:00 p.m., in The First Missionary Baptist Church, in Little Rock, CA for Mattie Turner, who died August 29, 2002. The Rev. Henry Hearns will officiate with interment to follow in Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale, California.
Mrs. Turner, a native of Greenville, MS had resided in Bakersfield, for many years and was an active member of St. John MBC under the leadership of Rev. Tyree Toliver.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Thomas, in 1985. Survivors include, daughters, Linda Turner, Valerie (Martin) Brothers, Laurette (Edward) Hurd, Wanda Turner, Tina (Eric) Cherry and Kathy Turner; sons, Anthony Turner; and Randy Turner Sr., of Bakersfield, CA; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carter (Cora), Charlie (Sharon), and John (Modessa) Franklin, of Little Rock, CA; her church family and other relatives and friends.
