Victor L. Vasquez, 92, a longtime resident of Knox City, TX, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Rhineland, TX with Father John Perikomalayli officiating, and Deacon Rick Vasquez assisting. Burial will follow services at the Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. A family and friends visitation is planned from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, November, 30, 2019 at the funeral home, 210 Ave A., Knox City, TX. A Rosary is planned from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church, 210 N. Ave G., Knox City, TX.

Victor was born November 8, 1927 in Frio Co., TX to Guillerma (Lopez) and Luis Jose Vasquez. He married Corina (Deltoro) in December 1946 in Pearsall, TX. He was a devoted member of the Santa Rosa Catholic Church, and an original member of the Men’s and Women’s Club. Victor worked as lead Forman for Herbert Partridge Seedless Watermelon Farm until he was 82, and later worked for Zeissel Farms. He was a dedicated worker, having never missed a day of Harvest. Victor also enjoyed the Holidays and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his three sons, Joe Vasquez and wife Debbie of Ft. Worth, Ricky Vasquez and wife Diane of Knox City, and James Vasquez and wife Faby of Knox City; three daughters, Sylvia V. Espinoza and husband Johnny of Knox City, Mary V. Aguirre and husband Ramon of Abilene, and Norma L. Jones and husband Alex of Wylie; 22 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; one brother, Juan Vasquez and wife Victoria of Pearsall; one sister, Lupe Trevino and husband Jesse of Chicago; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Guillerma Vasquez; father, Luis Jose Vasquez; wife, Corina Vasquez; and three sons, Victor Vasquez, Jr., Roberto “Bobby” Vasquez, and Ruben “Ben” Vasquez.
