James C. Hickerson, of Tulsa, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007. Born June 6, 1921, to Clarence C. and Clara M. (Reynolds) Hickerson, he was a native Tulsan, who began a long career as a Court Reporter at the Tulsa County Courthouse. He later started his own freelance reporting firm.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, including service in the China-Burma-India Theatre, receiving the Bronze Star for meritorious service while over seas. He was later recalled to service during the Korean War.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mildred. They were longtime members of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa and were active in the Boston Avenue Chancel Choir for 25 years. They were loyal members of the Wesley Fellowship Class at Boston Avenue.
He is survived by his daughter, Melinda Hickerson; and son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lisa Hickerson, all of Tulsa; and many other family members and friends. Service will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Boston Avenue Church music fund. Moore's Rosewood.
