Constance L Robinson was Florence and John Affeldt's first grandchild. When Connie was very young and the family would visit, grandfather John would say to Connie, "Hiya pooch!" and Connie would respond happily, "Poocha-yousef!". And being so young the word grandma, Connie pronounced as, "Gammie". This became what she called her grandparents and the family came to know Florence and John as, Gammie and Poochie. Over the years the family grew and grew and grew, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and gg-grandchildren quite lovingly knew their grandparents as Gammie and Poochie.
If you're familiar with our family, you know the yearly family picnics were quite an event. They started holding them at Gammie and Poochies home and as time passed and the family got bigger and Gammie and Poochie got older, picnics were held at Irene and Tracy Church-Affeldt's home at the top of Fort Hill in Groton.
