Born in Minden, LA, a son of the late Sam A. Harper and the late Ella Sanders Harper, he was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed traveling, bargain shopping, and spending time with family. He was retired from Flour as a safety manager after more than thirty years of service and he was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a son, Alan R. Harper (Sandra) of Greenville; daughters, Denise H. Thomas (Steve) of Piedmont and Debra H. Bolt (Pete) of Rock Hill; grandchildren, Rachel T. Joye (Jeremy) of Barnwell, SC and Samantha E. Bolt of Murrells Inlet; and great-grandchildren, Harper Leigh Joye and Mary Quinn Joye, both of Barnwell, SC.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.
