Marion resided in Fort Plain New York for most of her life, until relocating to Texas in 2006. The matriarch of the family was a country girl at heart that was never afraid of a little hard work on the farm. Marion had a special interest in hummingbirds, gardening, making quilts, completing puzzles, and creating heartfelt handmade keepsakes.
Marion was also an avid baker and was affectionately known for her unmatched baking recipes that her family loved especially around the holidays. She loved watching John Wayne westerns, listening to country music, as well as spending time outdoors on her patio reading on her iPad and enjoying crossword puzzles. Marion was a beloved wife, loving mother, and a phenomenal grandmother/great grandmother.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents, her son Brian Douglas, multiple siblings, and her husband of 43 years Carl Douglas.
Marion is survived by her children: First born whom she resided with Dennis Douglas-Moore (Claudia Douglas-Moore), Carl Douglas (Carol Douglas), Wendy Hess (Louis Hess), Sarah Christman (Brian Christman), Melissa Douglas, Charles Douglas (Terry Douglas). Her siblings: Jenny Tomek, Hannah Schuyler, Mable Cook, and James Brownell. 28 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as many close friends in Texas and the upstate New York area.
A small memorial service will be held by family in New York December 7, 2019 from 1-4 at South Minden Fire Department. Final Internment services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio Texas in April 2020.
