Candice “Candy” Mildred Cole, 63, of Bennington died Saturday, November 2, 2019.
Candy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Paul Cole, of Bennington; sons Rich and wife, Beth of Prairie Village and their two sons, Peyton and Landon; Jeremiaha “Toad” and his wife, Amy of Salina and their two sons, Gannon and Stratton; her mother, Myrle Leavitt of Tonganoxie, twin sister, Cindy Jones (Robin) of Tonganoxie, sisters, Cathy Raney (Gordon) and Christina Brown. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Keith (Pam), Frank (Sandy), James (Julie); sister-in-law, Marilyn Connelly (Cory); mother-in-law, Doris Cole; 13 nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Candy is proceeded in death by her father, Ben Leavitt and her father-in-law, Robert.
Candy loved her boys. She attended countless sporting events, concerts and activities for her children and grandchildren. She knew all of the kids on every one of the teams her boys played on and cared about all of them. She always had plenty of food for you at her house, snacks in her purse, a jacket for a cold game and a hug. She always had a loving home, filled with laughter and open to anyone.
Candy had worked at Tony’s Pizza and the Bennington School system before becoming a cleaning lady for many families who will miss her dearly. She loved Longaberger baskets, Starbucks runs, Christmas music, the Hallmark Channel, making wreaths, and above all else, her family. Candy leaves a legacy of kindness, honesty, laughter, and love.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 7, at Bennington Bible Church and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in the Bennington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bennington Fire Department or Bennington E.M.S. and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
