Jim Adams, 79, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior November 23, 2019, with his loving family by his side.
He was born June 24, 1940, in Stephenville to Paul Doris Adams and Ruby Lee Gooding Adams.
Jim married his loving wife of 56 years, Helen McCann Adams, September 14, 1961, in Huckabay, Texas.

Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War Era as a helicopter pilot and was honored to serve his country. He and Helen lived in De Leon in the late 1960’s where he opened and managed the Duke and Ayers Store. They then lived in Erath County where they owned a dairy farm. They moved to Ozona, Texas and later to Sonora, Texas where he owned Jim’s Thriftway Grocery Store. They finally returned to De Leon in 1992 to settle. He worked for his dear friends, Jim and Linda Frank, at Frank’s Home Center until his retirement.

Jim and Helen were long time members of North Side Baptist Church, De Leon. Jim was an ordained Baptist Preacher and loved sharing about the Lord with others. Jim devoted much of his time in life to serving his community. He served as Mayor of De Leon for two terms, President of the Ozona React Team, state committee member serving alongside Governor Rick Perry, and held various other public service positions throughout the years. He enjoyed many hobbies including camping and fishing, wood working, gardening, and growing beautiful flowers (especially roses). Jim always delighted in telling stories and sharing funny jokes with others. He was quite a comedian and always had a smile on his face. He loved all animals, especially his dogs. He was a master of all trades and could fix just about anything. He was kind and generous hearted always offering help to those in need or less fortunate. His family was the greatest joy in his life and he was always his happiest while spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, loyal friend and neighbor, and involved community member. He will be missed by so many that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Paul Adams and wife, Jacque; daughters, Regenia Sadberry and husband, Alan, Elania Lingle and husband, Carroll, and Jeannie Howard and husband, Quentin; grandchildren, Eric and Monica Lingle, Meagan Landry, Braxton Sadberry, Lacy Lingle and Jay Urban, Auston and Samantha Sadberry, Corinna and Jordan Willis, Dallas and Mitchell McGarr, Brittany Cruz and Travis Hampton, and Caleb Cruz; great-grandchildren, Bentley Lingle, Aiden Senn. Chase Senn, Diana Medina, Austin Gonzales and Tori Gonzales; great-great grandchildren, Jonah and Anthony; brothers, Lloyd Earl Adams and wife, Sue, and Richard Adams and wife, Beth; sister, Margie Gazaway; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
