William was the son of Joseph R. Giovinazzo and Rosa (Nasso) Giovinazzo . He was married to Florence (Polizzi) Giovinazzo . They had five children, Joseph, Judy, Frank, Lorraine, and William Jr.

Bill had six siblings, Rafaele (who did not survive), Victor (Who did not survive), Angela , Ralph (Crash) , Pasquale (Pat), and Anthony (Tony) .
