Juanita Gibson was born on June 14, 1941 in Krebs to Walter and Margaret (Hopkins) Noble. She attended Crowder High School where she graduated in 1960 as Salutatorian. She married Everett Lee Gibson on May 16, 1960. They moved to Oklahoma City for a short time before returning to the Blocker area in 1965. There, they built a home and raised their two sons and one daughter. Juanita began working at the Blocker Headstart where she thrived for some 30 years, helping young families, teaching, nurturing and loving the children. Caring for kids was her special calling and her passion; she cared for them, body, mind and spirit. She was a tireless advocate for children, as well as their families, often helping parents find jobs, housing and food. Of course, that help always included an invitation to church.
Juanita loved her family and she loved the Lord. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. For many years, the family gathered at her home after church where she shared a wonderful Sunday meal and great conversation. She loved doing things with her grandchildren. She loved to be silly, to sing, to play, and to explore with them. She was never too busy or too tired. Juanita’s greatest mission was to share Christ with those around her. She loved people and never met a stranger, showing genuine interest in everyone who crossed her path. She was a long-time member of Blocker Baptist Church, where she was Music Director for many years.
Juanita is survived by her three children, Johnny and Diann Gibson of Featherston, Roger and Tonya Gibson of Blocker, and Angela and Derek Gray of Eufaula; 8 grandchildren, Keenan Gibson and wife Tiffany, Kendall Gibson, Dalon Gibson and wife Desarae, Gabriel Gibson, Erin, Noah, Eden and Lauren Gray; 4 great grandchildren, Tayte, Shaylee, Briar and Rendi; a sister, Maxine Reamy; a brother-in-law, John Harold Gibson and wife Tommie; and 3 sisters-in-law, Helen Noble, LouVine Brooks and Lottie Noble; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Gibson; her parents, Walter and Maggie (Hopkins) Noble; her step-mother, Tressa Noble, 8 brothers, Jerry, Ralph, Joe, Donald, Billy, Lloyd, Frank and Walter Noble Jr.; 2 sisters, Margaret and Joy Noble.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Quinton Manor Nursing Home for their love and care that they bestowed upon our mother and family.
