HAMDEN: Martin R. Powers, 85, entered into eternal rest on March 20, 2015, at Laurel Woods Health Care in East Haven. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia Miani Powers.

Mr. Powers was born in Middletown, CT on March 19, 1930, son of the late Stephen and Wanda Fitz Powers. He moved to Hamden from Middletown after he and his wife married. Martin was a self-employed painter for many years and was a professional duck pin bowler. He was inducted into the CT Duck Pin Bowling Hall of Fame in 1989.
He is survived by brother in laws, Louis Miani (Cheryl) and Robert Miani (Shirley) of Derby, sisters in law, Anna Boland (William) of Derby, Lorraine Cenkus (Jack) of Westbrook, Jeanne Cimino (Frank) of Guilford and several loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Powers.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday March 24, 2015, at 10:00 am at St. Michael Church in Beacon Falls for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Visiting will take place on Tuesday morning from 8:00 am until the procession leaves for church at the Spinelli - Ricciuti Funeral Home, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
