Delia Bowen (Schofield), 75, of Bay Mills, Michigan passed away peacefully at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, MI at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2019. Delia was better known as “Dee” to all her friends and family.

Dee was born in Zeba, Michigan on Aug. 12, 1944 to Anthony Thomas and Myrtle Jean Schofield (Mitchell). Dee’s parents moved their family to Marquette, Michigan where she attended high school. She loved to go to school dances, ice skating and street hockey. Later, Dee moved to Bay Mills, Michigan where she met her husband, Robert Joseph Bowen, Sr., whom she was married to for 54 years, until Rob’s death in November 2017. Rob and Dee are survived by their six children; Angela Bowen, Vicki Newland (Gordie), Isabella Hulack (Sean), Robert J. Bowen, Jr., Marquita Bowen (Jerry) and Mark Bowen (Brianna). Dee was especially proud to have had 27 grandchildren, 26 great grandchild, and 1 great great grandchild. Dee is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Donelda Schofield and Darla Schofield.

Dee was proceeded in death by her parents, Anthony and Myrtle Schofield, brothers; Anthony Jr., Mitchell, William (Scooby), Richard (Nudie), Dennis (Morgan).

Dee held many jobs in her lifetime, her favorite was Marketing Manager for the Bay Mills Resort and Casino until her retirement. She loved the casino business so much that she continued to frequent the casino for many years after.

Dee and Rob were very family oriented. They loved being with their children and many grandchildren, especially during the many family gatherings. Dee and Rob were always together, picking boughs and cones, fishing, camping and watching Jeopardy. They loved jumping in their car, going “two tracking” and traveling the roads of all corners of the U.S. But their favorite pastime was playing their guitars and singing with their family through their children’s growing years. Music was always present in the Bowen household. Dee was well known for her awesome storytelling. She had a way of making sure that everyone felt at ease by telling one of her many humorous stories. But everyone knew not to pull her away from her favorite show, “The Young and the Restless”. Dee was, and always will be, the matriarch of our family.

Friends and family may visit Dee and her family at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Bay Mills, Michigan on Tuesday October 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. A celebration luncheon will be held at Armella Parker Center immediately following. Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.clarkbaileynewhouse.com.
