John H. Dorsey, 87 of Hannibal, MO passed away at 10:15 PM Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park. Rev. Wesley Foster will officiate.
Friends and Family are invited to John’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the funeral home.
John was born on September 21, 1932 in Pike County, MO to Benny R. Dorsey and Zella Fisher Dorsey.
He was married to Louetta M. Mozee on March 28, 1975 in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2009.
John is also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Correen Dorsey and Mary Lucy Fountain; five brothers: George Dorsey, Clarence Dorsey, Benny Dorsey, James Dorsey and Thomas Dorsey; and two grandchildren: Damien French and LeeAnn Dorsey.
Survivors include five children: Fenney Dorsey, John Dorsey, James Dorsey, Stacy Sydnor and Ronnie Anderson. Also surviving are a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
John retired from the Marion County Highway Department.
He enjoyed fishing and working in his yard. Watching old westerns and listening to jazz and blues music were also a few of John’s favorites. Most of all John loved to spend time together with his friends, family and grandchildren.
John was a Baptist by faith and previously attended both the Eighth and Center Street Baptist Church and the Helping Hand Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Markel Dorsey, Jordan Dorsey, William Dorsey, Reginald Perry, Timothy Sisk and Carl Jefferson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Douglass School Reunion Committee.
