Annette Elizabeth Woods-Tyler
1944 - 2007
Annette Elizabeth Woods-Tyler September 2, 1944 - July 9, 2007 Annette E. Woods-Tyler was born to Roscoe and Mable E. Woods on September 2, 1944, in Bakersfield, California. She departed this life on July 9, 2007, in Wasco, California. Annette met Geneal Tyler in Wasco, California. They were married, July 4, 1997, in an original and beautiful ceremony created, developed and orchestrated to perfection by Annette in her home on 13th Street, in Wasco, CA. Both of Annette's parents have preceded her, but she was fostered and nurtured by a loving and successful father and mother. Her mother was a dynamic independent woman, raising and caring for three independent son and daughters until their adulthood. Annette's father was a successful Truck Owner of R.L. Woods Farms and Enterprises, brick tender and a valued community member. Annette was a member of the Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of Truth (1952). Recently she worshiped with the Apostolic Church in Wasco, CA. Federated Club work: Annette has been affiliated with the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs, Inc. She has held local, district and State offices in the California Association of Colored Women's Clubs, Inc. since 1951, when she joined the 'Six-Twelve' club in Wasco, CA. Annette had stated that her reason for business ventures was the need of raising her family to compete in the upcoming new world and in order to do this they had to be properly educated, dressed and aware of the current social mannerisms. She was the proud mother of three children, Neil Lamarr Anderson (deceased 1993), Tyra Ann Ramsey-Demery (deceased 2001), and Tamorra Joanna Kelly-Carreno. Annette attended Wasco Union High School garnering recognition and honors as the first black majorette to perform in the Wasco UHS Marching Band wearing a black velvet uniform with gold sequenced trim on her hat. Ann graduated from Wasco Union High School, attended Bakersfield College and Graduated from Cal State Bakersfield with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Annette's occupations were specialized and varied. She was a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff; an administrative secretary at the Downtown Los Angeles City Library; a secretary at Bechtel Oil Fields in Kern County; an independent studies teacher at Wasco High School and lastly a teacher, HS GED, State of California-Dept. of Corrections, Division of Adult Operations, Wasco State Prison-Retention Center. Annette incorporated her organizational and parliamentary experiences in representing her Union 'SEIU'. Annette had the brilliance of mind to observe, view, create and implement. With little experience and knowledge she was amazing in writing sustaining letters and documents of importance. Annette was always using her exposures and experiences to continue climbing and stepping forward into the future. Annette believed in her mother's vision for herself. And a special message for those she nurtured coming along behind her was to satisfy and complete your personal family life successfully...remember, once is not enough...rocky roads don't always create failure...love what you're doing right now...look to the future to create change...plan...then...execute. Complete your education to your satisfaction and proper rewards. Be happy in all endeavors that are undertaken. Last and foremost leave a legacy of achievements and accomplishments for others to follow. You are only as successful as the footprints you leave behind. Annette E. Woods-Tyler will be deeply missed by the many lives she touched, the organizations that she was affiliated with, by the community in which she lived, and by her family and many friends; but God doeth all things for the best and it is for us to trust in Him and His infinite ways...therefore, we commend Annette's spirit back to the God that gave it and may she rest in everlasting peace. She is preceded in death by her son, Neil Lamar Anderson I; daughter, Tyra Ann Ramsey-Demery; granddaughter, Brittnee Annette Demery; grandson, Lorn "Trae" Cliffton Demery, III; brother, Ronald Lamar Woods; and many more loving relatives.
