Obituary for William James Helton
Mr. William James Helton, 90, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Marion County to the late James and Lula (Brooks) Helton.
Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday, November 25 at 10 am with Rev. Van Breeding officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday from 2-5 pm and Monday from 9 am until time of service.
William was a member of Mountain Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from Arvin's after 25 years of service. He enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, dancing and gardening. He loved spending time with his family and reading his Bible.
William is survived by his children, Linda Cooley, Mary (John) Jonas, Lula (Hank) Jones, James Helton; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Lou Hadley; second wife, Wanda Lee Helton; daughters, Ann Helton, Bettie Monies; brother, Sherman Helton; sisters, Carrie Boling, Mary Koerner, Myrtle Tankersley; son-in-law, Jerry Cooley and a great-grandchild.
