Sophia Dreckmeier came to the US in 1857 on the Achilles, the same sailing ship as Fredrick Sielerman. They were married Feb. 5, 1859 in Iowa and became parents of 12 children. Only 5 survived to adulthood.

Sophia was the daughter of Johann Friedrick Dreckmeier and Anna Marie Lange.
