William Heber Roundy, 96, of Monteview, ID passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at his home.

William was born October 9, 1923 in Alton, Utah to John Davis Roundy and Maggie Fawcett Roundy. He was the fifth of seven children, consisting of 5 boys and 2 girls. At about 4 years of age, he, with his family moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah. It was here he experienced the great depression of 1929 and received his schooling, grades 1 through 12, graduating in the spring of 1942, just after the U. S. entered WW2. He was drafted, and entered the war mid 1943 and was assigned to serve in the Navy. He served on the USS Whitney, a repair ship for about 1 ½ years in Hawaii. He was then assigned to serve on the USS Smith; a destroyer. He served as an Electrician’s Mate First Class to the end of the war, then was honorably discharged in 1945. He continued his education at Brigham Young University earning his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Husbandry. He was also a Journeyman Electrician and Carpenter. On July 7, 1951, he married Barbara Ann Kamlah in the St. George, Utah Temple. She preceded him in death. On November 26, 1965, he married Josephine Barlow in Short Creek, Arizona. Together they had 12 daughters and 14 sons.

William had a dairy and farm in Pleasant Grove, Utah for several years, while attending BYU. In 1951, he moved to a dairy farm near Durango, Colorado. In 1954 He returned to Utah, where he labored in construction for about a year. Shortly after, he moved his family to Monteview, Idaho, where he and his children have farmed, raised livestock, and milked cows to present day.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Barlow Roundy; 12 daughters; 12 sons; 1 brother, Fred Fawcett Roundy; 224 grandchildren and 180 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara K. Roundy; sons, Orrin and Jared Roundy; grandchildren, Heber and Gregory Roundy; sisters, Nyhra Roundy Frampton and Lucille Roundy Lindsay; brothers, John W. Roundy, Samuel W. Roundy and Lawrence Roundy.

Family funeral services were held Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Monteview, Idaho, after which he also received a Military Honor Guard burial service from his fellow military brothers, with a 21-gun-salute. He was then laid to rest in the Roundy Family Cemetery.
