Businessman and Snowboarder. Jake Burton Carpenter, occasionally known as "Jake Burton," loved the snow. After trying out early versions of "snow boards" (a term he defined), he decided to improve the concept starting in 1977. He became the expert in the field and with much effort he founded the successful Burton Snow Board, Inc. His private company thrived over time and holds dominance in the snow boarding community. He was a native of New York, born there on April 29, 1954. He and Donna Lynn Gaston were married on May 21, 1983 in Greenwich, Connecticut. Together, they had three sons.
