Television Producer. He was the creator of popular 1960s television series “The Wild Wild West”. He began an acting career in 1943 in a London, England theatre production of “There Shall Be No Night”. He acted on stage and in bit parts in the movies in the late 1940’s. In 1954 he, and his business partner Gregory Ratoff, owned and then sold the television, novel and movie rights to author Ian Fleming’s first ‘James Bond’ novel, “Casino Royal”. Garrison worked in movie casting departments and eventually became an associate producer at 20th Century Fox studios working on movies including “Peyton Place”, “The Long Hot Summer”, “The Sound and the Fury”, and “An Affair to Remember”. He left Fox in 1958 to work at Warner Brothers Studios, where he produced “The Dark at the Top of the Stairs” and “The Crowded Sky”. In the 1960’s he produced the “The Wild Wild West”, which he pitched as “James Bond on horseback”. The series had nine different producers in its first season. During that year Garrison was fired and then reinstated at the end of the season. In August 1966, while producing the second season of “The Wild Wild West”, he had a housewarming party at his new home in Bel Air. The house had a marble staircase originally covered with carpeting, but Garrison had the carpet removed before the party for esthetic reasons. During the party a drink was spilled on the stairs and Garrison slipped on it fatally fracturing his skull.
