Mary was born in southern Colorado and was the daughter of Fulgencia and Adolfo Garcia. She graduated from Santa Fe High School in New Mexico, and went on to nursing school at St. Vincent's Hospital in Santa Fe.
Mary was proud to be an RN and was dedicated to her nursing profession. She enjoyed working in all the medical departments, but loved working with children and babies the best.
Mary was a great wife and mother, and believed that family comes first. She is survived by her husband; Leroy, children; Anthony (Denise) Gomez, Lisa Gomez Prince, Marsha (Bryce) Snellgrove, Gary Gomez, and Catherine Martinez; 7 grandchildren and one great-grandson; her sisters Marcella Armijo and Bernadette (Victor) Garcia; her brother, Adolph Garcia; sisters-in-law; Sylvia (Harold) Sexton and Earleen (Jim) Eden; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was an involved and devout member of Risen Christ Catholic Parish for over 40 years. She volunteered at Mi Casa, American Cancer Society and Hospice of Metro Denver. She enjoyed skiing, painting, bowling, shopping and travel. Some of her adventures led her to Antarctica, Jerusalem, Peru, Europe, and China. Mary will be remembered for her love of children, her stubbornness, kindness and generosity.
A Rosary is scheduled for November 25, 2019 at 5:00 pm at Olinger Hampden Mortuary at 8600 E Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for November 26th, 2019 at 10:00 am at Church of the Risen Christ at 3060 S Monaco Pkwy, Denver, CO.
