Van Johnson, age 61, a native of Kent, Ohio and a resident of Riverdale, Georgia was born September 30, 1956 to the late Claudia Johnson. Van was raised in Gosport, Alabama under the loving care of his maternal grandparents, the late Lem Johnson and the late Willie Mae Hollins Johnson.
Van was a 1974 graduate of Clarke County High School where he was a defensive tackle on the Bulldog Football Team. Van was very well liked and never met a stranger. If anyone could brighten your day, it was Van Johnson.
In addition to his mother and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Omeria Love Johnson. At the time of his death, Van was employed with Benning Construction Company.
He is survived by: two sons; three aunts; Van will also be fondly remembered by a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Wilson Chapel Cemetery, Grove Hill, Alabama with Rev. Raymond Hollins, officiating. Arrangements by Andrews Funeral Home, 800 Depot Road, Jackson, Alabama.
