HOBBS - Norma Madeline Russell, age 86, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born on Thursday, June 26, 1924 to the late Carl and Grace (McQueen) Phagan in Morrill, Nebraska. Norma was known as "Bee" or Aunt Bee to the family. She married Bill Russell in Lovington, NM on July 6, 1950. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2003. Norma was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Odessa, and a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hobbs, NM. She was also a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Good Samaritan Auxiliary. She loved to quilt, read, crochet, and knit and was a wonderful cook and baker.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her daughters: Sharon Lodhi of Justice, Illinois, Norma Coffman and husband Paul of Eunice, NM, and Janice Horton of Odessa; brother: Bob Phagan and wife Ellen of Gillette, Wyoming; six grandchildren: Amira Lodhi, Maida Lodhi, James Pennell, Michael Horton, Jason Horton, and Melanie (Horton) Hogan; and eight great-grandchildren: Austin Pennell, Nathaniel Horton, Killian Horton, Oryn Horton, Marley Horton, Cassidy Horton, Cade Horton, and Ethan Horton.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Grace Phagan, brothers: Carroll and Gene Phagan and sister: Joan (Phagan) Lowery.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hobbs, NM. (In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Hobbs, NM, Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Odessa, TX or your favorite charity).
