Denise attended Burlington City Schools and graduated from Hugh M. Cummings High School, class of 1977. She also attended the United Holy Church Bible College.
During her early years of employment she worked at Kayser-Roth and Annedeen. She later changed career paths in 2000 and worked at VV&E, Graham Manor, Hearts of Gold, and Moher Family Care Home as an office manager and supervisor in charge. In the past three years her career path changed yet again to child care provider.
From an early age, Denise had a passion and a love for singing. She began singing in the Sunshine Band of New Covenant under the Leadership of Evangelist Jessie Burney, New Covenant Young Adult Choir, The Gospelaires of Christ and HLC Choir. She had the rare opportunity of singing with various famous gospel artists such as: Douglas Miller, Richard Smallwood, the late Daryl Coley, Pace Sisters, and Timothy Wright. She attended many of the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminars and had the privilege of singing lead on the 1993 recording of “I’m Encouraged” with the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Mass Choir which was written by her brother Bishop Anthony Moore.
For Denise, church and singing was not just a calling, but the only way to live. She preached her initial sermon when she was in her 30’s at New Covenant United Holy Church. Denise did not mind being a servant in the house of the Lord and served as a Youth Leader at True Holiness Church of Faith under the leadership of Pastor Jean Moore and ministered under the leadership of Apostle David Dupree. She also served as the President of the Pastor Assistance at New Covenant United Holy Church for many years. She believed “Holiness Is Right.”
Although, Denise didn’t birth any children of her own, she was blessed to help her mother to care for many children throughout her life so much that her name changed from Denise to NeeNee.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved mother Susie Pearl Mapp Moore; sisters: Minister Diane Jeffries (Ronnie), Jessie Mapp, Sharda Moore; brothers: Bishop Anthony Moore, Robert Dark, Tavarius Moore, and Raheem Moore; daughter/niece Minister Tamara Harbor (Jacque); niece and nephews: Minister Ronnie Jeffries (Carisa), LaTosha Goodwin, Caleb Mapp, Jordan Jeffries, Asia Jeffries, Brooklyn Harris-Jones, Skylar Goodwin, and Brielle Jeffries; grandkids: Christopher Moore, Chandler Moore, Karter Harbor, Kennedy Harbor. And a host of cousins, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Estelle Mapp and Joseph Mapp; paternal grandparents Edgar Moore and Sally Moore; father Billy Moore; and brothers Billy Jerome Moore and Lorenzo Moore.
