Isaac Crabtree, as a teen, was an associate of Daniel Boone in his 1773 expedition into Kentucky. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and was elected to the Kentucky state legislature in 1806 as a representative of Wayne County.

He resided in Overton County, Tennessee at the time he made his pension application, but returned to Wayne County, Kentucky where he is enumerated in the 1840 census with a female of the correct age to be his wife.
