Lieut.-Colonel Sir John S. Cowell Stepney, Bart., of Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, on Monday, aged 86. He had a Waterloo medal, and was one of the last surviving Knights of the Guelphic Order of Hanover.

Lieutenant-Colonel Sir J. Stepney Cowell Stepney, Bart., died on Tuesday, at his London residence. The deceased baronet, who was created by Mr. Gladstone in 1871, served in six campaigns under the Duke of Wellington and Lord Lyndoch. The gallant old soldier retired from the army as Lieutenant-Colonel of the Coldstream Guards. From 1868 to 1874 he represented the Carmerthen Boroughs. He was 86 years of age.
