CWO4 Claude James (Jim) Dollahite, USN (Ret.), 76, of La Mesa, CA, passed away on November 13, 2019.
Jim was born in Mojave, CA and raised in Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by his mother Josie Annette Williams Dollahite, father Clyde Edgar Dollahite and five siblings.
He enlisted in the Navy in February 1961 and retired after serving thirty years of honorable and dedicated service aboard several naval vessels and installations. He attained the highest enlisted rank of Master Chief Petty Officer and subsequently became a Warrant Officer. He earned many personal awards and unit commendations throughout his career and he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in June 1990.
Jim was active in the local community and joined VFW O.K. Ingraham Ship 1774 in La Mesa, where he served as Ship's Captain from July 2007 to June 2009. Jim developed a passion for cooking and was well-known for volunteering to prepare meals at the American Legion Post 282 facility in La Mesa. He was also considered an expert in solving Sudoku and other crossword puzzles.
Jim will be greatly missed by his other five siblings and his loving fiancé, Ms. Linda Brennstuhl.
A graveside service will be held at the Miramar National Cemetery, from 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm on Wednesday December 4, 2019.
