Twila Porter, of Pine Canyon, passed away at her home Monday morning with her two daughters Linda and Cathy by her side. Her children and extended family had gathered prior to her passing and were blessed to say farewell to their wonderful mother and grandmother. We are comforted with the knowledge that she is now with the love of her life, Jerry, who preceded her in death eight “long” years ago. She was blessed with good health throughout her life and enjoyed a wonderful life with her sweetheart Jerry.

She came to the Tooele Valley with Jerry and 4 young children in the early 1950s and settled in Pine Canyon. She worked at the Tooele Army Depot and Dugway Proving Grounds. Upon Jerry’s retirement in the late 1970s they became “Snow Birds” and spent their winters in Yuma, AZ enjoying the warm winter season to the fullest. After Jerry’s death in 2010 she continued to go to Yuma for the winters with her two daughters and their husbands. During the summers she enjoyed volunteering at the Tooele Railroad Museum with her lady friends. She loved to travel with these same friends and enjoyed water aerobics and the lunches that followed.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry, sister; Doris Chatman, and 4 grandchildren; Camille Daly Stacy, Jamie Porter, Wendy Lougy Henrikson, and Troy Lougy.

She is survived by 5 children; Linda (Roger) Lougy, Steve (Patsy) Porter, Cathy (Jerry) Overstreet, Gary (Lisa) Porter, and Rich (Phyllis) Porter, 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing at Tate Mortuary on Saturday, May 5 from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. followed by a memorial service in the Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be at the Tooele Cemetery.
