Retired Detective Sergeant (APD) Charles Franklin McClure, age 72, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, November 4, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Floyd Road Baptist Church in Austell with Rev. Keith Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta. He will lie in state at the church from 12pm until 1pm prior to the ceremony.

A native of Valley, Alabama, Mr. McClure moved to Atlanta in 1970. He graduated from Auburn University, then worked for the Atlanta Police Department in the Homicide Division for 24 years, where he specialized in hostage negotiation. Afterwards, he was a Captain for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department before retirement. He was a member of the Hostage Negotiators of America, and of Floyd Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mobley McClure, in 2017.

Survivors include: Daughter, Michelle McClure, Douglasville, GA; Son, Chad McClure, Douglasville, GA; Granddaughter, Madelyn McClure, Douglasville, GA; Brother-in-Law, Richard (Cindy) Kimberley; Nephews who referred to him as "Uncle Rank" include Chuck Moore, Shawn Kimberley, Corey Kimberley and Dustin Kimberley, and their families.
