Brenda Lou (Petersen) Armstrong was born January 30, 1934 in Bethany, Missouri to Robert Allen [Glen] and Ardene Corda (Conley) Armstrong. Brenda grew up in Bethany where she attended grade school until her family moved to Omaha, where she attended Omaha South High School. As a young girl, Brenda enjoyed going to Bethany Park and getting ice cream.

Brenda married Norman Noyes Armstrong on August 31, 1962 in Valley, Nebraska. She was Mom to Ardene, Gordon, LaVetta, and Norman. Brenda and Norman made their home in Waterloo, Nebraska for 57 years.

Brenda worked for many years in the supply warehouse for Pamida. She was active in her Ladies Card Club, and stayed in touch with her fellow Pamida Retirees. Brenda enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, working in her garden, playing cards, cooking and baking.

She was an avid Husker fan, who liked a night out at Joe Tess' Place, or a steak and a margarita. Brenda was a fan of classic country music, and her favorite movie was "Murphy's Romance" with James Garner. She was aggravated by bad service, and misbehaving, unkempt children, and was fond of her sayings, "nothing good happens after midnight", or "that's whatcha get".

Brenda was a woman who was giving, strong, loving, opinionated, outspoken, and protective. She took no shit from no one, and told it like it was. She even made walking with a cane look classy!

She loved her grandkids, and all the holidays, cookouts, and"Sundays", along with the traveling she was able to do. Most of all though, remember, don't mess with Grandma!

Brenda passed away suddenly at her home in Waterloo, Nebraska on Sunday, May 10, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ardene C. Petersen and brother Allen "Pete" Petersen. Brenda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Norman N. Armstrong of Waterloo, NE. Also, son, Gordon; daughters, Ardene and LaVetta; step-son Norman Armstrong; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends.
