Linda Farmer, 72, of Chattanooga, and formerly of Cookeville, passed away November 17, 2019.

Linda was born April 9, 1947 in Cookeville, TN.

She was a graduate of Cookeville Central High School, Class of 1965, and a graduate of Covenant College, 1992. As a youth, she was active in 4H. She met her future husband, Terry, while both were attending Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville.

She and Terry married on January 3, 1968. She took a break from college to be a wife and mother. She returned to college when her children were older, graduating from Covenant College with a Bachelor's degree in 1992.

Terry's work involved relocating many times. This was sometimes difficult for her, but she always found the positive side of everything. She and Terry had two children, Matt and Ginger. As a mother, she was always supportive and encouraging, and active in their lives. As a grandmother, she adored and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was employed with the Tennessee Department of Revenue, retiring in 2008.

Linda was an active member and participant of Mountain Creek Church of Christ. She loved worship services, her congregation family and participating in Vacation Bible School activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Terry Farmer; her parents, Clay and Lena Farris; and her in-laws TJ and Ruby Farmer.

Linda is survived by her children, Matt (Kim) Farmer and Virginia Farmer; five grandchildren, Justin (Kaitlyn), Logan (Keliane), Cole, Monica, and Dustin; two great-grandchildren, Laylah and Braxton; her brother Mark (Mary) Farris; two sisters, Myra (Bob) Kernea and Connie Farris; and many nieces and nephews. She was also loved by many other people. Linda had a knack for making everyone feel like they were a part of the family.

A Celebration of Linda's Life was held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Wednesday November 20, 2019.
